Main pair: partnership Heylen outcross

This is the outcrosss cock:
HH731 outcross (moulting)
I was looking for a cock to further strengthen the mask & spot area. This cock caught my eye at our (BGC BraLim) annual budgerigar sale. The intention with this bird is to create a line of birds with consistently good masks and spots. It's also clean: I need to counter the flecked/ticked birds I bred last season. I hate flecking. Maybe the flecking in my birds is caused by concentrating on spots?

This cock is not a bird with heavy feather, but I think I even prefer that as my own bred cocks of quality all have a heavier feather. Despite not heaving heavy feather I like the head of this cock. Head qualities is not the main concern at the time, but still a feature to consider. It also shows some opalescence (not visible in this picture).

This is one of his hens:
2011 dark green hen
The hen is from a father x daughter pairing and mainly André Goossens blood with some partnership Heylen & F. Silva blood. The father was the first bird I brought in to improve the mask & spots.

Its brother won best young light green/dark green/grey green at the BGC BraLim show agains some good competition. The hen itself didn't make it to the show as I pulled a wrong spot (oops) and it was already missing a spot.

I would have liked a wider head on this hen, but the directional feather is there. The feather is short on the head compared to the rump area: I would have like it the other way around but you can't get it all. Also notice the ticking in the picture.
