Bye bye pets

I got rid off almost all my pet birds today. Got the price of two bags of seed and some apple vinegar for the lot, so I'm not getting rich from them. The real profit will be in a smaller seed bill.

I wasn't going to breed with them this year, so there was no point in keeping them. There were several practical reasons for this, but the real reason is I couldn't see the point any more. They basically became ballast.

I've only kept the offspring from the split fallow birds. They will be test mated when old enough in the hope of breeding one or two fallows.

The room it freed up will be directed at breeding some special colours in exhibition style birds. But not until next spring/summer. Hopefully the fallow will become one of them. Danish pieds (aka recessive pieds) is another colour. I may also resurrect the mauve line.
