Ramblings on my stud of budgerigars, exhibition budgerigars in general, maybe genetics & statistics and possibly real life.

I should keep better records

More pairs are with chicks or fertile eggs by now. The breeding season seems to take off slowly.

I've got chicks and fertile eggs in a few boxes. But I know of some of them that they are fostered. But often I don't know for sure which birds were the genetic parents. I've got a vague idea, but my memory is not good at remembering stuff like that.

When I was breeding with only one, two or three exhibition pairs it was not too difficult, but this year, with the increase in pairs, I've lost track.

For example with this Australian yellowface that's being raised by a pet pair: definitely an exhibition budgerigar given its posture and colour. But who are the parents? Or with those fertile eggs that I've marked especially because I transferred them, but forget to write down from where.

Anyway the season is picking up and I'm hoping for more chicks (hopefully with known pedigree).
