BGC BraLim 6th International Open Show

Last Saturday it was the yearly show of my local club. We were privilidged to have Mick Freakley and Geoff Tuplin as judges. I had been communicating with Mick on the world wide web, so it was very nice to meet him person. Unfortunately I couldn't stay to observe the judging or have a longer talk with these great budgerigar breeders.

Predictably most of the major awards were won by André Goossens:
  • Best In Show,
  • Best Opposite Sex In Show,
  • Best Young Cock In Show,
  • Best Young Hen In Show,
  • Best Old Cock In Show and
  • Best Pair In Show

Best Old Hen In Show was won by the partnership Heylen and the partnership Van Overmeiren took Best Team.

It were all stunning birds on the podium. Pictures should be available soon on http://brabant.grasparkiet-bgc.com/clubshow2010/index.html

As for me: Almost all my birds had tail problems or were in the breeding team. So I only managed to get four more or less presentable birds at the show. My best result was a third place in the 'normal blue (incl. yellowface) young cock' class behind two birds of Steven & Caroline (partnership Buggenhout). By now they have earned more then enough points for promotion.
